CULTIVATING EMPOWERMENT THROUGH POETRY

Wood

Wood like to be hard and as strong

Would like to be courageous and tall

Would like to be a branch on top

Sometimes things move so others can stop

Wood like to see a lot of love from a tree

Wood like to be holding hands, set free

no matter where i shall go or be …

Santa Fe helped release the tree within me

To be me and to dream as I watch a bird fly above me

Airplanes and painted skies, O, how I miss dear friends of mine

Would you be mine, could you be mine, won’t you be my neighbor?
