CULTIVATING EMPOWERMENT THROUGH POETRY

I was born in a place where multiple medical staff was present.

The place I was raised, in a little casita surrounded by pine trees, green pastures & livestock

Grandfather and Grandmother, my parents with all my siblings eating at the dinner table from oldest to youngest

After dinner, all the males go to do the outdoor chores, where the young ladies tidy up for the evening bath and bed.

Early morning breeze whistling through the window, chirping birds to a beautiful awakening

where the day, work or school, was ahead for the day

Horses and livestock were fed and watered.

Money was tight. Our grandmother sewed our clothing for all.

30 years later made things easier for Grandmother, but much more expensive.
